The Barbary lion (Panthera leo leo) has been extinct in the wild with the last known small groups last seen in Algeria and Morocco until the early and mid-1960s respectively.I needed little encouragement to photography this majestic lion. I had the privilege of spending over a year observing and interacting with this lion. It was a fantastic experience I will never forget. The Barbary Lion Project was organized to attempt to return these lions to the wild.
